Case Study
Online Notarization Platform
Overview
Notarizing a document requires time, resources, and the physical presence of the notary official. An online notarization platform not only speeds up the process of notarization, but also allows notary officials to keep track of notary records.
Industry Background
Billions of documents are notarized each year in the United States. For all manners of critical transactions including but not limited to buying real estate, starting a new business, and getting affidavits signed, notarization is the most authentic and prevalent method of vetting and certifying documents.
To alleviate the industry pain points such as time constraints, delays caused by excessive backlog of notarization requests, and the need for the notary official and requester to be physically present in the same place, our client decided to digitize the process.
Challenges
Mapping a notarization process into a user-friendly, screen by screen customer journey online required an in-depth study of how the system works in real life and ensuring security checks at each step. We built the system from scratch and designed the entire knowledgebase, programmed for dependencies, and set specific roles for different users. Security of the system was of the utmost importance and we implemented the SSL protocol on the website for secure data transfer.
How We Did It
-
Step One
Requirement Gathering: We scoped out the product by studying the industry, existing workflow, and user interactions in the real world system. We researched to understand what the stakeholders needed and expected from such a system.
-
Step Two
Technical Feasibility: A comprehensive flow of the product and user stories led to the creation of a proof of concept. The programmability of each feature and function performed was determined that guided the decisions made in regards to the tech stack to be used.
-
Step Three
Prototyping and Programming: Our UI/ UX experts created a clickable prototype based on the wireframes designed to mimic the user interactions and workflow. Once the prototype was approved, we went ahead with development.
-
Step Four
Testing and Deployment: After each deliverable and component production, we tested the product and the rigorous process of quality assurance continued throughout the development cycle. After one final testing post-deployment, we declared it a project successfully completed.
